ANNUAL TROPHIES
A highlight in club life, Trophy Night is a major event in the club calendar as it signifies the closure of another season and celebrates the achievements of players and members each football year.
For players, to receive an annual trophy in their grade is reward for a long year of training and competiton. To be presented with an award that spans the entire club such as the goalkicking or rookie of the year trophy on top of their own grade's accolade is an even greater privilege.
Though footy is central to the organisation, the SGFC is much more than just about football - club life extends far beyond the traditional gameday. Without netball, cricket, tennis, darts, eightball and squash there would not be the infrastructure for these Saturdays in winter and autumn. The key figures in netball and the affiliated sports actually may have little to do with contesting the BLGFA premiership, but indirectly they are just as important as the football department.
The club awards presented annually recognise the outstanding achievements and contributions of individuals in the broader membership to enable our footballers to take the field. Individuals who have worked hard behind the scenes, players who have contributed above and beyond their own footy, administrators who have sacrificed time and effort, sponsors who have been generous, or simply supporters who have just continued to prove their loyalty - this is what keeps the SGFC alive each year.
